Safety Code of American
Whitewater:This code has been prepared
using the best available information and has been
reviewed by a broad cross section of whitewater
experts. The code, however, is only a collection
of guidelines; attempts to minimize risks should
be flexible, not constrained by a rigid set of
rules. Varying conditions and group goals may
combine with unpredictable circumstances to
require alternate procedures. This code is not
intended to serve as a standard of care for
commercial outfitters or guides. |

This link provides an
explanation of the internationally accepted I
to VI rating scale known as
"classes" for rating river
difficulty. A river's level of challenge will
change greatly with fluctuations in weather
and water levels. Thus, a river section or
rapid that might be considered a Class II in
late summer might become a Class V during
early spring run off.
Note: The river
ratings used in the vendor listings
throughout the Gordon's Guide Whitewater
Rafting section have been provided by the
companies and will vary slightly from vendor
to vendor.

Family-owned and
operated, RAN was found in 1993 on the premise
that they can manufacture quality clothing using
environmentally friendly materials and still be
competitive. The fleece items were originally
made for use in whitewater rafting and sea
kayaking, but have been used and enjoyed wherever
warmth, comfort and a soft cuddly touch is
needed. |
